Tahini is in the meat and alternatives food group. It is made from sesame seeds and contains protein. It is high in calcium, omega 3 and 6, Vitamin B1 and iron.
Many adults find tahini by itself to have a somewhat bitter taste, but I find introducing it to kids early allows them to accept the taste without bias. You might be familiar with tahini as an ingredient in homous.
